Case Study

Solar PV & EV Charging | Ash Tree Veterinary Centre

Combining renewable energy generation with intelligent EV charging to help a busy veterinary practice reduce its reliance on grid electricity.

We delivered a 17kW solar PV system for Ash Tree Veterinary Centre, alongside a myenergi Zappi EV charger designed to make productive use of surplus solar generation by directing available energy towards staff electric vehicles.

Within its first 10 days, the system generated 670kWh of electricity — delivering more than £340 in energy savings for the practice.

Scope Included

A complete solar PV and EV charging installation designed around the energy requirements of the veterinary centre, with additional planning required to achieve a high-quality installation across the existing slate roof.

01

Site assessment and design of a 17kW commercial solar PV system

02

Solar panel installation across the existing slate roof

03

Specialist mounting, flashing and slate hooks used to achieve a secure and clean installation

04

SolaX inverter installed and integrated with the solar PV system

05

myenergi Zappi EV charger installed for staff electric vehicles

06

Surplus solar generation utilised for EV charging when available

07

Complete solar PV system testing using specialist multifunction PV testing equipment

08

Testing, commissioning, certification and project handover

The slate roof added an extra technical challenge to the installation, requiring careful planning and the appropriate mounting system to protect the existing roof while achieving a clean finished installation.

Alongside the 17kW solar array, a myenergi Zappi was installed to make even better use of the electricity being generated. When surplus solar energy is available, it can be directed towards charging staff electric vehicles rather than simply relying on grid electricity for charging.

The early performance has been particularly impressive. In just the first 10 days, the system generated 670kWh of electricity, resulting in more than £340 in savings for Ash Tree Veterinary Centre.

It’s a great example of how solar PV and EV charging can work together as part of a wider commercial energy strategy.
